Materials

Kronotrop Turkish Coffee/High quality drinking water/scale/grinding mill/Turkish coffee pot/ wooden spoon/heat source/mug/drinking glass

Preparation

  1. Weigh 8 gr of fresh-roasted Kronotrop Turkish coffee beans. (While a 1 to 10 ratio of coffee to water is recommended, this ratio can be modified to taste).
  2. The coffee should be ground in a Turkish coffee grinder just before being prepared.
  3. Empty the freshly-ground coffee into the Turkish coffee pot. Add sugar to taste. (To avoid spoiling the characteristic flavours of our quality coffee beans, we recommend preparing the coffee without sugar).
  4. Gently pour 70-80 ml of room temperature drinking water over the coffee in the Turkish coffee pot.
  5. The coffee and water should be mixed thoroughly with a wooden spoon to remove all clumps. Proper stirring of this mixture at the beginning of this process will prevent unwanted bitterness from developing and ensure the coffee brews well.
  6. Carefully place the coffee pot on to the stove or heat source. Heat should be adjusted to allow for the correct brewing time. Towards the end of brewing, heat should be reduced to prevent vigorous boiling and avoid spoiling the foam.
  7. The coffee should not be mixed during brewing.
  8. Total brewing time should be between 2:00-2:30 minutes. Towards the end of the process, once the coffee has formed a firm layer of foam and begins to rise towards the top of the pot, the coffee should be removed from the heat source without boiling.
  9. The coffee mug should be held at a 45-degree angle, and the coffee poured into the mug slowly, without disturbing the foam.
  10. Turkish coffee should be served with a glass of water and a sweet accompaniment such as a Turkish delight, date or chocolate. The coffee should be rested approximately two minutes before serving to allow it to reach ideal serving temperature (70-80°C) and for the grounds to settle.
