This coffee originates from the Támesis region, located on the central and western slopes of the Andes Mountains in the Antioquia Department of Colombia. Támesis boasts the largest coffee cultivation area in the country and is known as the birthplace of coffee farming in Colombia. It is also the region where the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia was established.
Due to the two dry and two wet seasons experienced throughout the year, harvesting occurs twice annually: the main harvest takes place from October to December, and the mid-crop harvest is in the May-June period.
The area is characterised by consistent temperatures, ranging between 23 and 26°C all year, and rich volcanic soils.
Elkin Arcila is one of the first specialty coffee producers in his community. Today, he manages a plantation with 1,800 Geisha trees. He has also founded a barista school in Támesis, where students receive training to develop their sensory skills and improve coffee quality.
